William E. Shifflette Sr. passed away on August 1, 2019 at the age of 95. Born on December 16, 1923, he was the son of the late Agnes (Wood) and William E. Shifflette. He was a proud WWII Veteran. He served in the US Army and participated in the European Theater of Operations in Rhineland where he was awarded the Bronze Star. William went on to serve in the Air Force for several years and made a career for himself as an aircraft mechanic and instructor at Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. He was a member of the Masons and also the Old Time Fiddlers Association.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his sister Almeda Good, wife Eunice Shifflett Shifflette, and wife Ada Cook Shifflette. He is survived by his children William E. Shifflette Jr. of New Market, VA, Larry A. Shifflette (Barbara) of Bidwell, OH, and Pamela L. McDermott of Moon, PA. William is also survived by his grandchildren Ian and Branden, and great-grandchildren Ivy, Violet, Tiana, and Bailyn. Additionally, he is survived by a brother James W. Shifflette and sister Eileen May, both of Virginia.
