World War II veteran, passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on Wednesday

his great-granddaughters Amelia and Emma and Great grandson Dallas James.
Robert was born on November 10, 1925, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He grew up
in a loving family and developed a strong sense of faith, which he carried with
him throughout his life. Robert enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 15
during World War II and fought in several major battles including two of the
most brutal battles of the Pacific campaign, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. His bravery
and selflessness during the war demonstrated his unwavering commitment to his
country and fellow Seamen and Marines.
After the war, Robert returned to Pittsburgh, married, and became a
well-respected umpire, officiating games for 70 years. He was known for his fairness
and love of the game, and his contributions to the local sports community were
immeasurable. Robert was also an avid golfer, and he spent much of his free
time on the golf course. He was particularly passionate about helping his
fellow veterans enjoy the sport through the "PGA Hope” foundation, which he
supported for many years.
Above all, Bob was a devoted family man. He cherished his daughter,
granddaughters, and great-granddaughter, and he always put their needs above
his own. He instilled in them a love of God, country, and family, and his
legacy will live on through them.
Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His kindness, humor, and
unwavering faith will be remembered by all who had the privilege of crossing
his path. May he rest in peace knowing that he made a positive impact on the
world and that his legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
