Toby Croyle, Retired Lt. Col. of the United States Army, 77, of Moon Township, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 2, 2024, in the Emergency Room of Heritage Valley Sewickley. Toby was born in Johnstown on June 15, 1947, son of the late Todd and Ellinor C. (Walker) Croyle. Toby obtained his B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, graduating with Cum Laude Honors. He was a Green Beret and Paratrooper, who served long tour of duty in the Vietnam War. Highly decorated, he was the recipient of Parachute Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Overseas Bars (2), Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, 3D Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Army Service Ribbon. He dedicated his whole life to our nation. He was an integral component of the Department of Army Defense, here in Moon Township, where he served as the Facility Management Officer at the 99th RSC (now the 316thsustainment command), and additionally was responsible for the Commissary and Exchange. He also was employed by Chicago West Pullman and Subsidiaries (Denver, CO) where he served as President/Vice-President of Tell City, IN location, and the Dravo Corporation on Neville Island was the beginning of his management career where he served as Superintendent and General Manager of the Structural Shop. Toby also retired from the US Army Corp of Engineers, Neville Island, as a Plant Facility and Safety Manager. Toby also was a member of the F & AM Lodge #674, the American Legion and the VFW Post 402. Beloved husband for 43 years to Cynthia (Corman) Croyle; loving father of Torre (Rachel) Croyle, Toddy (Gary) Reese and Melissa (Phil) Marin; cherished grandfather of Luna, Meredith, Marley, Maddie and Jack; well-loved son-in-law of Jane Corman. Family and friends are welcome to attend his Military Honors Service at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on Wednesday, Dec. 11th, 2024, at 10:30 AM.
