EDWARD "ED” P. WALSH JR, CMS, U.S. AIR FORCE (RET)

AUGUST 22, 1947-APRIL 17, 2026

Edward "Ed” P. Walsh Jr, CMS U.S. Air Force (RET), of Center Township, formerly from Coraopolis, passed away peacefully at Good Samaratin House Wexford surrounded by his loved ones on April 17, 2026.

Ed was born August 22, 1947. Son of the late Edward P. Walsh Sr and Veronica (Egley) Walsh. Brother of Donald J. Walsh (Sandy) of Findlay Township and the late John M. Walsh (Lynn). Brother in law of Karen (Ken) Niehoff, Catherine R. (Paul) Naughton, Thomas J. (Dee) Naughton, and the late John F. Naughton Col USA Ret and Robert D. Naughton and the Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Ed was the beloved husband of the late Mary Jane (Naughton) Walsh for 50 years. He was the caring father of 10 children Edward J, Erin, Mary, Senior Chief USN (Ret) Steven (Davida), Senior Chief USN (Ret) Michael (Jennifer), Patrick (Amy), Kristin, Matthew (Courtney), Melissa, Timothy (Taji) and proud "Pap Pap” of 21 grandchildren Abby, Alivia, Braydon, Casey, Clara, Collin, Cristofer, Dylan, Edward, Emily, Emma, Hayley, Hunter, Jacob, Joshua, Justin, Meghan, Scott, Timothy, Tristyn and Zachary.

Ed was raised in Coraopolis and attended St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School and graduated for Coraopolis High School in 1965. He then went on to attend Youngstown State University. On September 17, 1966 he married his high school sweetheart Mary Jane (Naughton) Walsh. February 9, 1967 Ed enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. During his decades of service, Ed was stationed at Chanute AFB, Illinois, Hickam AFB, Hawaii, Mcguire AFB, New Jersey, And the 911th Air Lift Wing, Moon Township, PA where he proudly and honorably retired with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Ed embraced the challenges and responsibilities of military life earning the respect of his peers and superiors. After retirement he took on the role of being a full time Pap Pap of 21 grandchildren. No job was too big or too small, Pap Pap helped with homework, picking up from pre-school, fixing ice cream sundaes for breakfast, patching scraped knees and going to Janoskis. Ed always enjoyed helping with the Military Banner Program, Pittsburgh Air Show and his High school reunions. And in recent years he reconnected with a dear friend from High School Kathy Sommer.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Staff at Heritage Valley Sewickley, Heritage Valley IV Therapy Team, Concordia Home Health Palliative Care Nurse Racey and Good Samaritan Hospice House in Wexford for their kind and compassionate care.
