Daniel R. LaRocco, age 94, of Coraopolis, died peacefully at his home with his daughter at his side on Friday, April 14, 2023. Beloved husband of 64 years of the late Norma J. Mell LaRocco; loving father of Dana Jean Niedergall, Anthony (Debra) LaRocco and Fred (late Shari) LaRocco; grandfather of Danielle (Matt) Scandrol, Robbie Niedergall, Daniel (Rebecca) LaRocco and Christopher (Kristen) LaRocco; great grandfather of Rocco Scandrol, Elliana "Ellie” Niedergall, Anthony, Santino "Sonny” and Marcus LaRocco and a new little one on the way; brother of the late Ernest (late Martha) LaRocco; very special friend of Marie Pressley. Dan was a lifelong resident of Coraopolis. He was a proud war veteran of WW II and in Korea. He worked as a Molder for Blawnox for 30 years, and a truck driver and laborer for Coraopolis for 20 years. He served as a councilman for 30 years, was the local chairman of the Democratic Party, belonged to the VFW Post 402 and the Coraopolis Historical Society. He was in every memorial day parade up until a few years ago, he walked the whole parade. Danny lived by always putting God, family, country, and of course his beloved Coraopolis first. He played Santa Claus for the town of Coraopolis, and it gave him great joy to see all the little children come up to him. He would put them on his lap and make them laugh and if they cried, they stopped because of his kind voice. Every Christmas Eve he would dress up and go around all his little nieces and nephews’ homes and bring them little presents and then he would come back and surprise his grandchildren. Of course, his grandchildren wondered where Pappy was, and we always told me got called into work. His greatest joy in life was his children, grandchildren and  great grandchildren. He was so very proud of all of them, and he loved them to death. Danny never met a stranger, everybody became his friend and loved him. If you know Dan, he would tell you to have a drink and celebrate his life with a toast! Friends will be received on Sunday 4 - 7 pm, Monday 2 – 8 pm at R. D. Copeland. Ltd., 867 Fifth Avenue, Coraopolis where a funeral prayer will be held on Tuesday at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church at 10 am.
VFW Service will be Monday evening at 7:00pm.
